Free Like Feet Want To Be

Free Like Feet Want To Be - this drawing is from a Nike Free Running advertisement in a Runners World magazine. the true reason why i did this was actually for an art 107 assignment; but after i completed the assignment i felt like i would include it in my art portfolio. the running shoes become a symbol to the saying "Free Like Feet Want To Be." but whats funny is how the advertisements lead the viewers so strongly into what their selling, that they lead you away without thinking about the bad outcomes of the object being sold. for example, how much is this running shoe, how comfortable is it truly, does it tear easily, how long will it last? all these questions become unanswered to those who don't have a lot of experience in the running field; which makes this advertisement very deadly into making a great profit.

Nothing Gold Can Stay #10 (Friend Till' The End)

Nothing Gold Can Stay #10 (Friend Till' The End) - i decided to end my nothing gold can stay series with this painting. this painting i made is for one of my good friends Patrick West. you may be asking whats the meaning behind this? its pretty simple. i expect most of the viewers to get out of this art piece that some of our good friends we make in life will slowly become only a memory. that a great amount of the friends we make will move on in their lives for a loved one, a family, a job, or up to heaven. but life can be like a painting or photograph; even though we can't physically see all the friends we have made in our lifetime, we still have a picture, a painting, or even a drawing of the close relationships we have had. a memory.

Robert Frost A Dream Pang

I had withdrawn in forest, and my song Was swallowed up in leaves that blew away; And to the forest edge you came one day (This was my dream) and looked and pondered long, But did not enter, though the wish was strong: You shook your pensive head as who should say, 'I dare not--too far in his footsteps stray-- He must seek me would he undo the wrong. Not far, but near, I stood and saw it all Behind low boughs the trees let down outside; And the sweet pang it cost me not to call And tell you that I saw does still abide. But 'tis not true that thus I dwelt aloof, For the wood wakes, and you are here for proof.

what i take away from this poem is so meaningful. my life has almost always started with a small/big dream I've had. I've had people tell me that i would never be good enough, never be fast enough, never be smart enough, never be good looking enough, etc. all these dreams that i have had made me that man i am today, and i never take one bit of it for grant it.

Nothing Gold Can Stay #9 (Runners Dream)

Nothing Gold Can Stay #9 (Runners Dream) - This artwork was done not only for everyone's dream about sports in general, but my dream! This collage is a reminder of how far I've come in my running career; all the runs, the miles, the accolades, the awards, the losses, the wins, etc. My dream has come to a stop for now but in my heart i still fight the urge to be able to carry the American flag onto the track in the Olympic games.

Nothing Gold Can Stay #8 (Ivory Whites)

Nothing Gold Can Stay #8 (Ivory Whites) - This piece is dentures sculpted out of a bar of ivory soap. When making my piece, i had tried to find the common sides of the two subjects. I was trying to portray the meaning of "love" with not just young adults, but with old citizens as well. That even though our grandparents may be old, and may think they don't experience love anymore isn't true. They still dress nice, try to smell nice, and do whatever it takes to express and impress the ones they truly love.
